A FIGHT AGAINST DOWRY

A case from Aligarh was reported where an old man approached HAMARI PAHCHAN concerning the dilemma that her daughter was facing at her in-laws. He had married his daughter to a man who initially did not demand for any dowry at the time of marriage, but later created pressure on him and his daughter too. The family of the man was not ready to keep his daughter in law unless her family pays the stated sum of dowry. HAMARI PAHCHAN, which is associated with a professional team of Lawyers, Legal advisors, Counsellors and Police, approached the family of the lady and looked on to the matter. Initially we went to the family of the man for cross-checking and validation of the accusation on the man by his wife and her father. We had an individual counselling of both the parties respectively, but it was of not much use. So, we called for a collective meeting of both the parties. Both the parties were confronted by a procedure of domestic counselling where each of them stated their opinion and concerns. Various viewpoints originated and they reached upon a mutual consensus where the family of the man finally agreed to take back the lady home. Not only this, they also assured of not asking for any dowry in future. The father is now very happy and wishes HAMARI PAHCHAN to continue the good work at eradicating social evils from the society.
